Kathmandu, July 30 : Presidium member of the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal,
Rajendra Mahato, has said the support his party extended to the government
would continue with the hope of constitution amendment.
At a press meet
organized by Reporters' Club on Monday, leader Mahato said his party was
hopeful of this government and it was on wait and see moment for the party.
He however said
it was not possible that the RJPN would join this government. General
convention of the party would elect new leadership on consensus, leader Mahato
added.
"Government
has two-thirds majority. We exert pressure on it to get our demands fulfilled.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was reminded of our demands some days back. He was
urged to address the issues of Madhes, Dalit, and indigenous through the
constitution amendment," he underscored.
Moreover, the
leader demanded the government to withdraw the false charges labelled on the
leaders and cadres in connection with the Madhes agitation. He viewed that
Nepal needs to maintain harmonious relations with both neighbours.
Leader Mahato
further said his party could not be united with the Federal Social Forum, and
the relations with the major opposition Nepali Congress would depend on its
activities.
