Kapilvastu, June 18: Eight people including a seven-months-old girl child were injured in a bomb explosion that took place near the office of the election officer in Banganga municipality today.

Two were seriously injured and have been taken to Butwal hospital for treatment. They include Lal Bahadur Tharu,28, and Shesh Ram Gupta,45, of Materiya in Banganga-5, according to police inspector at the area police office, Pipara Raju Karki.

Other injured are Bejhe Tharu, Bijaya Tharu and Kamlesh Prasad Loniya of Banganga-5, Rup Lal Gurung, his wife Sushila and seven-months-old daughter Minakshi.

The bomb explosion took place as the parties were busy filing their nominations for the June 28 elections.

An unidentified person who came on a cycle is suspected to have left the improvised explosive device wrapped in red cloth, which exploded soon after the person left.
