Kathmandu, March 16: The United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) has withdrawn
its support to the government saying the government failed to implement the
three-point agreement reached between the government and the Front.
The UDMF has
further said that the government did not respond to its seven-day ultimatum of
retracting local poll and passing the constitution amendment bill.
The UDMF leaders
submitted a letter to Speaker Onsari Gharti at her office, Singh Durbar,
notifying her of the withdrawal of their support to the government.
Tarai
Madhes-Loktantrik Party, Sadbhawana Party, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Ganatantrik
and Rastriya Madhes Samajbadai Party submitted the letter in this connection.
The Sanghiya
Samajbadi Forum on Wednesday had submitted a similar letter to the Speaker.
The SSF has 15, TMLP 11, SP five, the Forum
Ganatantrik one and RMSP three lawmakers in the parliament.
After
submitting the letter, UDMF leader Laxman Lal Karna said that they decided to
sit in the opposition bench in the parliament after withdrawing their support
to the government.
