Mahottari, May 10: Minister for Irrigation Umesh Kumar Yadav said that no irrigation ministers representing different political parties in the past had emphatically thought about Madhes.
Once the Unified CPN (Maoist) got the irrigation ministerial portfolio, the special programme for Terai-Madhes gained the momentum sooner, Minster Yadav claimed.
He blamed the political parties of trying to foil the special irrigation programme in Terai-Madhes.
Addressing a programme organized by the All Nepal Farmers' Federation (Revolutionary) in Mahottari on Monday, he said the Finance Ministry has however not allocated budget for the 'Prosperous Terai-Madhes Irrigation Special Programme'.
"I am struggling for budget for the programme, I am confident that the budget will be appropriated", he said, pledging to implement the project by transferring funds from other headings even if the Finance Ministry does not place emphasis on the special programme.
The Ministry of Irrigation has expedited its works to make prosperous Terai special programme a success, he said, adding he has also brought out programme for hilly and mountainous regions besides Madhes.
